Voodoo was released almost five years after D'Angelo's debut album Brown Sugar. The #1 album earned a Grammy for Best R&B Album and its lead single "Untitled (How Does It Feel?)" won a Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. Voodoo was recorded at Electric Lady Studios, the Greenwich Village-based studio built by legendary musician Jimi Hendrix.
